TDC Soft to conduct PBL-type special class on the theme of “The Reality of Web3 Business” at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University
~Practical learning about the future of Web3 business and contributing to the creation of new value~.
(President: Hiroyoshi Kobayashi, hereinafter referred to as “TDC Soft”) held a special PBL-type (*2) class for four days between May 13 and July 15, 2025 at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (President: Yutaka Yoneyama, hereinafter referred to as “APU”) on the theme “The Reality of Web3 (*1) Business”. Background of the Lecture
This lecture was proposed by Professor Toshitsugu Otake of the APU School of International Management at the request of his students, many of whom are international students, to “provide students with practical knowledge and experience through live information from companies.
For more than 60 years, MHI has been involved in a wide range of social infrastructures, including financial and public services, and has a proven track record and experience in supporting Japanese society. We are utilizing this wealth of knowledge to conduct business research in the Web3 and blockchain domains, which are expected to bring about major changes, as a new challenge theme.
■Content of the class
The class is PBL type and is led by Kota Hizawa, Senior Manager of our Financial System Innovation Department, who introduces the evolution from Web1 to Web3, the basic structure of distributed networks and blockchain, and case studies such as DeFi (decentralized finance) and DAO (decentralized autonomous organization), as well as discussing issues in Japan and the He also introduced the challenges and future prospects in the Japanese and global markets.
The participants worked to come up with solutions from a Web3 perspective to six social and business issues, including “how to use Web3 technology to solve social issues in Japan” and “business ideas using Web3 technology. In the final lecture, each team gave a presentation and had a lively Q&A session with the lecturers.

Through PBL in collaboration with companies, students were able to gain valuable experience in formulating hypotheses and refining their ideas while receiving feedback.
