Profile

Joined the company as a new graduate in 2014. Enrolled in the Department of Information Technology at a technical college with the idea that the age of IT is coming and he wants to work with his hands, and aspires to become a system engineer; he joins TDC Soft because of its size of over 1000 people and its flat and friendly corporate culture.

Experience in developing our own products was a turning point in my career.

When I first joined the company, I was involved in system development for public corporations, but the project I participated in during my second year with the company to develop our own product was a turning point in my career. Unlike ordinary SI, where we create what the customer wants according to their requirements, we have to think through the entire process of our own products, from planning to development and release, by ourselves. However, the products we released to the market failed to attract orders for the most part. We were frustrated because we had confidence in the concept of the product, and in searching for clues by attending all kinds of seminars, we came across the concept of UX design. I was thinking of changing jobs to a company where I could experience UX design, and when I openly talked to my boss about my thoughts on UX design and the idea of changing jobs, he replied, “Let's do it at our company too,” and discussions on promoting UX design began within the company. Discussions on promoting UX design began within the company. I then began to study design on my own, educate others within the company, and actually gain experience in projects. As a result, the number of colleagues who sympathized with me increased, leading to the establishment of the CX & UX Design Promotion Office.

Establishing a new department to disseminate UX design internally and externally

The CX&UX Design Promotion Office is a newly established department and is working outside the box. Our first task was to define our vision, raison d'etre, and values as a department. We set a vision of "creating designs that dance in our hearts and make the world overflow with joy," a mission of "creating and rejoicing together toward the same vision," and a mission of "making design the next normal thing for all people. We have also begun to make specific CX/UX design proposals to our customers and to participate in actual projects to conduct UX design. However, the reality is that our UX design services are not well known outside the company. We have embarked on marketing activities such as information dissemination and seminars for external audiences.
On the other hand, we have also been focusing on internal communication within TDC SOFT Inc. As new technologies and solutions emerge and the way of development changes, SIers who just "make what they are told" will not survive. We believe that a UX design mindset will be essential for engineers in the future, and we are planning, developing, and implementing in-house training programs. We have already seen an increase in the number of user-oriented comments in actual projects, and we feel that a steady change has begun.

Spreading UX design into untapped areas

As expressed by the newly established CX&UX Design Promotion Office, I feel that TDC SOFT's appeal lies in its free and open culture. As an independent SIer with a reasonably large company scale, we have the capacity to accept challenges from our employees. There is pressure to be at the front of an organization that is changing the way things were done in the past, but having colleagues in other divisions that I can consult with is a great source of support. The CX&UX Design Department is uniquely rewarding in that we are able to provide value to customers and the company while thinking for ourselves in a free environment that has only just been created. However, I believe that SIers who do BtoB business can actually have a direct impact on many users. Also, UX design is not as prevalent as in the BtoC field, so there is a real thrill in spreading it where it does not yet exist.
My personal goal is to gain experience in UX design, but I would like to refine my artistic thinking and eventually create a position such as CDO (Chief Design Officer) or CCO (Chief Creative Officer), which do not exist in our company yet, and stand in those positions myself. I would like to stand in these positions myself.
